The length of the Marine Railway is 437.5′ with a slope of 0.75 in/ft and the lifting capacity is 500 LT. The Railway was originally constructed in 1948. The four rail system with its cradle powered by an electric motor driving a two-drum inhaul/outhaul winch via a chain driven pinion gear. A side-track system supplements the main railway’s ability to accomidate multiple vessels. From 2004-2006 a new cradle was constructed, extensive repairs were undertaken on the lowwer ground-ways, and the drive motor and controllers upgraded.
